How do I switch from trimming to edging?

Rotate the head 90°. The line then spins vertically, cutting a clean line down the side of a path or drive instead of across the top of the grass.

What does automatic line feed mean?

As the line wears down, the head releases more on its own. You are not stopping every minute to bump the head on the ground or open it up by hand.

Will it cut through brambles or thick weeds?

It handles long grass, nettles and soft weeds well. Woody stems and established brambles are a job for a brushcutter with a blade, not a line trimmer.
