Questions

Can I use it in water?

The coil is waterproof, so wet sand, mud, puddles and shallow water are fine. The control box and shaft are not designed to be submerged — keep those above the surface.

Is it suitable for a complete beginner?

Yes. Start in coin mode on a park or garden, learn what the tones mean on targets you dig up, then move on to adjusting sensitivity and building your own custom program.

How deep does it detect?

Depth depends on target size, soil mineralisation and your sensitivity setting far more than on the machine alone. A large object reads much deeper than a small coin in the same ground.

Will it tell gold from junk?

Gold mode plus discrimination filters out most common trash signals, but no detector is perfect. Part of the skill is learning your machine's tones.
